Small Raku Hare by Brian Andrew - 10 cm - great condition - vintage art pottery

A little pottery model of a lying hare.

Made using the Raku technique he's ~10 cm long by 4cm wide and ~4cm tall.

A manipulator of mud and water for over 40 years, fused with a talent for spreading paint on board or canvas in a manner pleasing to the eye, has given him the best excuse to indulge in a life perhaps many can only dream of and more ‘materialistic’ types could never comprehend!!

Known for his ‘Raku fired’ animal sculptures, Brian now focuses on a more traditional style of country ceramics known as ‘Slipware’, in his case a red clay decorated with coloured ‘slips’. The larger animal pieces are finished without glaze or only in part, giving them a dry looking finish, keeping them more in relation with the animal. The paintings are based on the seabirds he watches and their environments, as well as harbour life including pubs and the shenanigans they lead to!!! Boating adventures , ferrets, dogs…… always dogs! Even dogs on motorbikes!
